Worship

worship [wur-ship] - the act of acknowledging and giving respect to something that is of great worth to you

"We are not created to worship, but rather we are created worshiping. Everyone worships all the time. Atheists, agnostics, Christians, and everyone in between are unceasing worshipers. Everyone, everywhere, all the time, is always worshiping."
                      -Mark Driscoll

We are capable of worshiping anything, from drugs and alcohol, to our families, to ourselves and so on.  However, all of these things are simply misplaced worship.  So much of our lives are spent worshiping created things, when we should be worshiping the Creator! Psalm 24 tells us that everything has been created by God and therefore it all belongs to Him, including ourselves.  Here at Lighthouse Community Church, our goal is to help people focus their worship on God in all aspects of their life. This means that God is held as the single most important component of our lives personally, at home, at work, and together as the body of Christ.  He is without match, all-powerful, sovereign, just, and loving.  He knit us together in our mother's womb and our every breath is dependent on Him.  He deserves our worship and in all aspects of life deserves to be placed as the most important thing.

Worship can be expressed in an infinite number of ways.  Music is just one of the ways that we use to worship.  At Lighthouse we select songs for Sunday services that generally are current and/or contemporary, but we are not afraid to utilize whatever is necessary to help our body worship.  We believe that our Sunday services are a very small glimpse of what Heaven will be like for believers.  This means that we place a strong emphasis on singing together in union to our God.  Paul's prayer for the church is this, "May the God who gives endurance and encouragement give you a spirit of unity among yourselves as you follow Christ Jesus, so that with one heart and mouth you may glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ."  We want our body to set aside all of their distractions and sing without reservation to God as a whole.  God cares far more about your heart and the words you're proclaiming than He does about the pitch that is coming out of your mouth.  So come join us, prepare to open up your heart and let God move in you!
